LittleBigPlanet 2 Review
Littlebigplanet 2 is a wonderous game of creativity and style. The story mode contains light-hearted adventure, with dark, uncertain undertones. The story mode features the main character – a customisable avatar named Sackboy – being sucked up into a massive space vacuum cleaner named The Negativitron after a gentle stroll on Littlebigplanet. Luckily Sackboy is rescued by Larry Da Vinci (obvious a play on Leonardo Da Vinci, the famous inventor)and Avalon Centrifuge. After a brief conversation Avalon leaves Da Vinci to test Sackboy in several different ways to see whether he is good enough for The Alliance, the rebellion against the opression of The Negativitron. 1st Member of the Alliance: Larry Da Vinci Da Vinci’s world is mainly centered around the Materials of wood and cardboard. In this world, Da Vinci tells Sackboy the basic controls in the first couple of levels such as jumping and grabbing. After the basic levels, Da Vinci shows Sackboy the Grappling Hook and tells him how to use it. The boss level of the Hideout does not have a name; it is just a robot Da Vinci built as the Final Test. The boss is simple to defeat and relatively easy to Ace. After the battle, Sackboy is accepted into the Alliance. 2nd Member of the Alliance: Victoria Von Bathysphere This world takes place in a world of Cakes, centered around the material of Sponge. Here sackboy is introduced to the Creatinator. The boss is a machine made by the creator of the world, which is turned evil by The Negativitron. It is pretty easy to defeat, and it may take 4 to 5 goes to Ace. 3rd Member of the Alliance: Clive Handforth This world is set in a Factory that builds anything, mainly robots and weapons. The main material is Metal. This world also showcases the hazards that can kill Sackboy such as fire and electricity. Clive, the creator of the world, is depressed as the Negativitron attacked and overran his Calendar Factory. The boss is a Guard Turkey named Copernicus. All you have to do is run away from him, so you can ace it easily. 4th Member of the Alliance: Avalon Centrifuge This world was created by Avalon, who we met in the first world. It is mainly based around the controlinator as there are no on-foot levels. In this world, the main attack against the negativitron is launched – Huge Spaceship. In these levels, Sackboy is educated about Avalon’s military, yet fluffy and animal-based vehicles. The boss is quite hard, as you fight it on one of Avalon’s machines. The boss has 3 phases, one laser, two lasers, and one/two lasers. After the boss is defeated, it shoots a missile that hits Huge Spaceship dead-on, bringing it down. 5th Member of the Alliance: Eve Silva Paragorica After Huge Spaceship crashes, one of the Creators suggests that they find Herbert Higginbotham, ‘The best creator in history’. Clive bluntly rejects this as Higginbotham is supposedly ‘insane’ and then proceeds to instantly blame himself for the fact. Nevertherless, Clive accompanies the player in the Asylum. It turns out that the asylum is nowhere near as creepy as the name suggests. It is mainly based around sponge, like the second world, and wood, like the first. The boss is easy to defeat and ace, if you are lucky you can do both at the same time. As it turns out, Higginbotham is insane as Clive describes... 6th Member of the Alliance: Dr Herbert Higginbotham Higginbotham is easily cured, and he fixes Huge Spaceship for the team. They then journey towards the world created by the Negativitron. Higginbotham quite resembles Einstein, known to some as the greatest scientist in history. The world of the negativitron is a massive landfill site, chock full of Meanies (the Negativitron’s minions)There are three phases of the fight with the Negativitron. In the first you use a Hamster robot made by Avalon, in the second you use a grappling hook and a bound pad machine piloted by Avalon and Clive. In the third you use Grabinators to throw cakes, aided by Victoria and Da Vinci.Ta-da! You’re finished. Now you can have more fun creating! In conclusion, this game gets an Epic 10/10, as there is nothing I can fault it with! Well done Media Molecule for making this awesome game!
